French Quarter Management District

Lighting

Lighting is the first step to a safer, cleaner and more secure neighborhood for residents, businesses and visitors.

The $1.75 million Street Lights Repair project, in cooperation with The City of New Orleans, began in November of 2024 when FQMD assessed 945 individual streetlights in the French Quarter. To replace broken or missing century-old iron arms on the streetlamps, FQMD turned to other southern cities with historic neighborhoods who could supply these rare parts, including St. Petersburg, Florida.

To date, between 500-600 lights have been repaired with ongoing maintenance by FQMD via the 311 system
