- Residential properties: solid waste must be contained in carts with closed, tight fitting lids or placed in .8 mil or greater secured black plastic bags
- Commercial properties: solid waste must be contained in carts with closed, tight fitting lids or placed in 3.0 mil or greater secured black plastic bags
- Prohibited: the use of paper bags or boxes as trash containers and the use of public litter cans by residents or businesses for the placement of debris from their properties
- Morning collection times: 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Carts/black bags must be curbside by 4 a.m. and removed from the public right of way by 9 a.m.
- Evening collection times: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Carts/black bags cannot be placed curbside earlier than 3:30 p.m.
- Properties eligible for collection by the City: Four units or less, not a hotel, restaurant or bar and which generates less than 35 gallons of solid waste at each scheduled collection in the FQ/DDD. Other properties must obtain private service.
- Wednesday is bulky waste collection day (eligible residential properties only): up to 6 secured bags of green waste or up to 6 bundles of tree limbs cut in 4′ lengths, metals (limit: 25 lbs. and 4′ in length), furniture, mattresses, appliances (w/compressors removed), carpet (less than 4′ in length rolled and tied) and up to 4 tires.
- Residents can call 311 to schedule a bulky waste collection of up to 15 secured bags of green waste or up to 15 bundles of tree limbs cut in 4′ lengths, as well as other items within the type/volume limits. Weight limit is 50 lbs.
- Solid waste containers/bags must be placed in front of the property generating the waste and not block pedestrian or vehicular rights of way.
- Property owners/tenants are responsible for removing solid waste on their premises including the area extending 1.5′ from the curb into the street.
- No one is to sweep, blow or pour items into storm drains.
- Permanent dumpsters must be screened from public view.
- Signs are not to be placed on the public rights of way such as on neutral grounds, utility posts or between the sidewalk and the curb.

Do you know it's illegal to:

- Ride a bicycle on a sidewalk, in a pedestrian mall, or the wrong direction on a 1-way street. Sec. 154, 1411, 1416
- Obstruct a sidewalk or public right-of-way so as to prevent its free and proper use. Sec. 54-401,146-493, 494(a)
- Ride a bicycle without obeying ALL traffic laws and traffic control devices applicable to a motor vehicle. Sec. 154-1411, 1412
- Stop or park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop sign, or within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. All measured from the outer edge of the vehicle. No signage or yellow paint needed. Sec. 154-923(a) (4), (6), (7)
- Park within 3 feet of the curb return of a driveway unless you have the owner’s permission. All measured from the outer edge of the vehicle. No signage or yellow paint needed. Sec. 154-923(a) (2)
- Double park a vehicle, or drive or park a vehicle in a pedestrian mall. Sec. 154-608, 923(a) (11)
- Put residential garbage, including bulky waste, anywhere except curbside in front of your own home; residential garbage must be in a black 3-ply or 0.5-mil plastic bag or in a roll cart that is NOT overflowing and has a closed and sealed lid. Sec. 138-38, 39, 42, 43

- Operate a motorcycle not equipped with an exhaust muffler bearing the appropriate EPA certificate; or be a visitor operating a motorcycle in the Vieux Carré between midnight and 6 AM. Sec. 154-314
