NOLA.com: A pilot program to expand glass recycling to French Quarter bars and restaurants could help divert thousands of pounds of bottles and cans from the landfill — and bring some of it to Louisiana’s coastline.
The French Quarter Management District launched an initiative in March with the local recycling organization Glass Half Full, which collects glass around the Gulf South and converts the waste into sand and gravel for coastal restoration projects and other uses.
