In celebration of National Recycling Day on November 15th, Michelle Courseault, the new FQMD Executive Director, met with WWL this Wednesday morning to discuss the FQMD’s collaboration with Glass Half Full to bring glass recycling drop-off locations to the French Quarter. The FQMD has contracted with Glass Half Full to recycle glass “waste” into sand and gravel for disaster relief, coastal restoration and eco construction. Each French Quarter site accepts glass, aluminum, paper/cardboard, and plastics #1 and #2. A Glass Half Full staff member will be on site during the duration of each drop-off to help attendees sort their recyclable and answer questions.
The weekly drop-offs can be taken to the New Orleans Jazz Museum (400 Esplanade Ave.) on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Cabrini Park at 1219 Dauphine Street on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and The Historic New Orleans Collection at 616 Toulouse Street on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
This glass recycling drop-off program is part of the larger Keep the Quarter Clean campaign, a local Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliate, aiming to maintain a higher level of cleanliness and improved sanitation for all who love the French Quarter.
